Despite being a largely populated city with a lot of great artists, Philly gets a pretty bad rep for our lack of “celebrities.” We’re not home to Hollywood or Broadway, but we have our fair share of talents.
If this list looks familiar to you, it’s not because we have only so many famous people to boast about, but because we are really proud of what we have. And let’s not forget that this is the list of famous Philadelphians you should know.

R&B group Boyz II Men met at our own Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA). This unique arts school seeks out talented youth and allows them unite and master their art under a supportive roof.
The fresh prince may have moved, but Will Smith will always be a Philadelphian claim. Just ask around at any West Philly establishment or school. The locals will tell you stories of how they grew up with Will, played him in a game, or sat next to him in some class.
Maybe not so proud of the fact anymore, but it’s nevertheless a fact that Bill Cosby is a Philadelphian legend. Scandal aside, the Cosby Show and Kids Say the Darnest Thing wouldn’t have lit up your screens in the nineties without the city of Philadelphia.
Kat Dennings is not really from Brooklyn. She was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA.
Kevin Bacon is from Philadelphia. New York and LA can suck it.
